Program Goal and Objectives

The goal of KOICA’s development cooperation program with the Pakistan is to help alleviate poverty by promoting sustainable socio-economic development and supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).  In line with the priorities under the Pakistan Development Plan 2010-2016 and drawing on Korea’s development experience and comparative advantage, KOICA works on the following strategic objectives:

Strategic Objective 1: Strengthen Economic Infrastructure

  • Improve Transportation Infrastructure

KOICA will assist in the development  of transport networks that will opne up new economic opportunities, reduce transportation and transaction costs of business and increase access to social services. This interconnestion will strengthen the socioeconomic, cultural and political linkages between and among regions and eventually deecentralize progress and bring development to the countryside.

  • Improve Energy Infrastructure
          KOICA aims to improve the living conditions of the local residents through the expansion of power grid and development of renewable energy. This will contribute for                the increase of power supply and local economic growth.       


Strategic Objective 2: Promote Education Sector

  • Strengthen Technology, Innovation Capabilities / Improve Vocational Training and Education 

          KOICA will enhance the quality of vocational education and training skills of the labor force and increase the employment rate. This will lead to reinforcing research                    and development capabilities which has potential for growth in the industrial sector. This will contribute to the improvement of domestic economy and international                      competitiveness in Pakistan


Strategic Objective 3: Enhance Health Services


  • Improve Water Sewerage & Sanitation / Strengthen Health System

KOICA seeks to improve drinking water, sanitation systems and to strengthen of health-care institutions capacity. KOICA pursues to contribute in attaining the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of Health and to contribute to the improvement of public health in Pakistan.
